Travel Guide Ponoarele

The area around this village, located 4 kilometers south of Baia Aramă, abounds in spectacular karst formations: caves, lakes and valleys abound. The most famous is the Natural Bridge (Podul natural), formed by a collapsed cave. It is 50 metres long. Near the village, you can visit a 20-hectare botanical reserve planted mainly with lilacs. Two other villages near Ponoarele are renowned for their geological curiosities. In the vicinity of Padeş, you can observe curious karst phenomena. Cloşani is home to the renowned cave of the same name, a veritable underground palace.
