Also known as the Semenic-Gorges National Park of Caraş. The Culminant mountain massif with the Pic Pic peak at 1 447 m, the Semenic Mountains is ideal for hiking accessible to all. It covers a surface of 36 624 ha and is located in the southwest of the country. It is characterized by vast hétraies and chestnut trees divided between small valley valleys and peaks over 1 200 m above sea level (Goznei mountains, 1 447 m), cimes, holes, gorges, plateaus but also orchards and pastures. The altitude is low and the obvious Mediterranean influences. There are 1 086 species of Mediterranean and Balkan plants associated with it. Invertebrés have 56 endemic species and 45 rare species. Among the vertebrate species present, mention the retort viper, the most vénimeuse species in Europe, and the rapaces, circaete, and screams eagle. 10 species of mammals were counted among the wolf, the deer carpatin, the lynx. The park also has many caves where many endemic species grow. Interesting sites include the beautiful beech forest of the Réserve Nerei reserve and the Grotte cave. The latter is located in the north of the Anina Mountains, on the left side of the Comarnic valley, at an altitude of 440 m. It is the longest cave in the region (4 040 m). Its galleries are of large dimensions and rich in stalagmites, the spectacle of which does not miss visitors.Information: www.pnscc.ro
