LUCEA CLOCK TOWER
It was made in Europe in 1817, in the shape of a German royal guard's helmet, by a landowner - German, that is. It was landed by mistake in the small port of Lucea, almost homonymous with the neighboring island of St. Lucia, where it was destined, to the great astonishment of the British settlers who had ordered a much less imposing clock. The leaders of the city of Lucea, finding it quite to their liking, refused to return it to its recipients and paid the price, raising the sum through a public subscription.
