As the city has decided to do everything possible to develop its brand image, a special police force has been set up to protect tourists in particular. These patrols ensure that they are not victims of theft or assault, but also hunt down false guides, pickpockets and, in general, keep unwanted people away. This is a great success, according to media reports, which state that crime against tourists has dropped considerably since its inception in 1994.

Je reviens d'un séjour au Maroc et notamment à Marrakech Je confirme, la police est très présente partout, à Marrakech et ailleurs. De nombreux barrages routiers policiers. La police touristique se trouve sur la place Jamaa el Fnaa. J'y est fait une attestation d'accompagnement avec un ami marocain. Cela a pris une demie heure pour faire tamponner l'attestation qui est payante. Nous avons été contrôlé durant le séjour une seule fois, sur la place Jamma el Fnaa par un policier en civil. Aucun problème grâce à l'attestation.
