Before it was home to spices and wicker baskets, this square was a grain and... slave market! A practice that wasn't officially abolished until 1920. Today, it's a delight to stroll through the stalls, especially those of the apothecaries, who will happily explain that their magic potions are capable of solving all your ills. It's here that you'll find the widest choice of items and spices, but beware: haggling is a must!
