POPPELSDORF CASTLE
Castle now part of the university, housing an arcaded courtyard, a botanical garden and a small mineralogical museum.
Poppelsdorf Castle is one of Bonn's most charming landmarks. It was the residence of Elector Clement Augustus in the 18th century. It is now part of the university. In summer, classical music concerts are held in its arcaded courtyard. A small mineralogical museum is also open a few days a week. A beautiful botanical garden is open daily. In winter, if you're lucky, you can see the world's largest flower (3 m), the Titanenwurz, which blooms every 3 years.
