CHANCELLERY AND PALACE SCHAUMBURG

These two buildings now house the French Ministry for Cooperation and Development.
One is square, gray and modern. The other is white, bright and graceful. These were the chancellor's residences when he lived and worked in Bonn. Schaumburg Palace, built in 1858-1860 in neoclassical style, was home to the chancellors until 1976, when Helmut Schmidt moved into the new residence. It's also known as the "Federal Chancellor's House". Today, the buildings house government ministries.
