KOLUMBA
Museum exhibiting liturgical works and contemporary works in Cologne.
An astonishing museum, under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Cologne since 1989. The modern building, designed by architect Peter Zumthor and built in 2007, stands on the site of the Gothic church of St. Kolumba, which was destroyed during the Second World War. Liturgical works as well as contemporary works (Andy Warhol) are on display in 16 exhibition rooms. The collections cover 2,000 years of history, dating back to Late Antiquity. The museography is deliberately non-linear, inviting reflection.
