Museum featuring works of art and objects from Roman antiquity, as well as a collection of Roman glass and jewelry.

This modern, square building houses one of the most important museums in the city. It gathers works of art and objects of Roman antiquity, recalling the origins of the city, the ancient city of Agrippina, Colonia. The museum is built on the remains of an ancient Roman villa, which contained the beautiful mosaic of Dionysus; these remains were discovered during the construction of a shelter during the Second World War. You will also find an important collection of Roman glass and jewelry.

une visite intéressante
Dans le cadre d'un cours de latin, nous avons visité ce musée. riche en objets variés et en informations sur ces civilisations. La visite est fluide, complète et c'est un lieu assez calme et agréable pour faire une visite à son aise. Je recommande pour les passionnées d'art et d'histoire !

Une très belle mise en valeur de la mosaïque de Dionysos vaut à elle seule le déplacement. Une collection remarquable de récipients divers en verre, en métal, classés selon les périodes et l'aisance de leurs propriétaires. Très instructif. A noter l'archéologie moderne : objets retrouvés après la WWII. Attention, les surveillants ne rigolent pas.
