PERFUME MUSEUM
Museum housed in an rococo house, with hundreds of objects illustrating 300 years of perfume-making.
This rococo house, belonging to the family of the great 18th-century perfumer Jean-Marie Farina (1685-1766), is the birthplace of eau de Cologne, and has been transformed into a fascinating perfume museum. From the cellars to the laboratories, from the oils themselves to their manufacturing tools and bottles, hundreds of objects testify to 300 years of perfume production. Patrick Süskind is said to have drawn inspiration for his novel Le Parfum from Farina, an obsessive lover of scents. A fascinating dive into what makes Cologne so famous.
