PONT TOURNANT DE DEUTZ

The Deutz swing bridge is located in the harbor of the Deutz district on Cologne's right bank. It provides easy access to the"Poller Wiesen", a large natural recreation area on the Rhine. The bridge was opened in 1908. It is an interesting example of early ^20th-century civil engineering. Some elements were designed in the Jugendstil style, very much in vogue at the time. A protected monument since 1980, its dimensions seem reasonable, but its design reveals real technical prowess.
