Oyster bar on an old sailing ship, for a quiet tasting experience on the water in Honfleur.

Not to be missed! On the harbor opposite the Lieutenance, L'Union fait la force, one of Honfleur's last remaining old rigs, has been transformed into a friendly oyster bar. This original project is the brainchild of the indefatigable Manu, whom we've known for several years now. He and his crew welcome you aboard for a quiet moment on the water, away from it all. And as if that weren't enough, everything is homemade! Raw oysters, hot or tartar, served with smoked sausage or homemade rillettes. Heave-ho!

We are big oyster aficionados, having had oysters from all over the US, from Prince Edward Island, from Japan, from Normandie and Brittany. These “Gouville Sur Mer” Normandie oysters were outstanding and super super fresh - very briny but with a totally clean finish (no lingering aftertaste). They were meaty but not overly so, sizable, and had a ton of juice (don’t let the photos deceive you) due to the superb shucking skills of the owner. Honestly one of the best shucking jobs we’ve ever encountered during our oyster eating adventures.

This is not a full restaurant but really an oyster “shack” (in the best sense of the word). Clearly marked no toilets. Just oysters (they have Tabasco) and drinks. Cash only.

It was originally a fishing boat and the city told the owner they were removing his permit to dock his boat at this spot unless he wanted to convert it to a restaurant, so that’s what he did in order to keep his parking spot!

Highly recommend this place if you are an oyster aficionado and want a short stop for some outstanding oysters.

Absolutely wonderful Normandy oysters, expertly shucked in the most authentic dockside atmosphere you can imagine. Great service from great people, too. Cash only, so you know it's good, but be prepared. First place you should consider to getting fresh local oysters in Honfleur. Superb, Tres Bien!

Endroit très agréable. L'accueil également. Les huitres un délice! Merci encore pour cet agréable moment et d'avoir accepter qu'on paye par chèque. Ca nous a évité d'aller retirer des espèces comme nous n'avions rien sur nous!
Nous reviendrons la prochaine fois avec grand plaisir!
