Housed in a former printing works, this restaurant offers an elegant, refined setting to match its Michelin-starred cuisine. Chef Andrew Zimmerman offers contemporary American cuisine based on local produce, with international touches. The menu changes with the seasons, and you're always pleasantly surprised. No wonder Michelle Obama is a regular. The owner, Emmanuel Nony, a Frenchman who has lived in Chicago for many years, will be happy to tell you a few anecdotes.

Vincent is first and foremost a restaurant with an excellent wine list and serves platters of local cheeses for aperitifs. It is also the favourite place for young couples from the neighbourhood to dine. This charming neighbourhood bistro is located in a small, discreet street perpendicular to North Clark Street. Its cuisine is American with European influences. We like the simplicity of the dishes and the generous cuisine. Cheese platters are a must but also try duck confit or steak with shallots and mushrooms for example.

In the Lake View district, this restaurant, with its pub atmosphere, good-natured atmosphere and dimmed lights, hides its game well because it is also a good gastro table that has even been rewarded with a gourmet Bib from the Michelin guide. You can enjoy small dishes that come in the form of elaborate but consistent tapas. Everything is based on seasonal, organic and fresh ingredients. The menu changes regularly but when we were here, the pork shoulder and mushroom pasta were a delight. A sure bet for your taste buds!

POOR PHIL'S BAR AND GRILL

American restaurant

Located below a hotel, this good neighborhood bar is a bit of a UFO. Inside, it's 100% pub, with hunters' artefacts and scarves and other fabrics bearing the effigy of various teams. You'll appreciate the airy terrace, the conviviality and the service. The menu is very confusing - too offbeat in its originality. Otherwise, almost everything is fried, even the sandwiches, and many dishes are seafood dishes: the influence of New Orleans cuisine.
