LES HAUTEURS DE PORTNEUF
Established in Rivière-à-Pierre, the province's largest architectural stone quarry.
Rivière-à-Pierre is a small municipality in Quebec's Portneuf region. Known as the province's most important architectural stone quarrying center, it boasts an impressive architecture of granite houses and public buildings. Despite a population of just over 500, Rivière-à-Pierre is a must-see in the region, thanks to its singular waterfalls, bold buildings and charming train station. Visitors can also take advantage of the Vélopiste Jacques-Cartier/Portneuf, a 68 km bicycle path linking Rivière-à-Pierre to the municipality of Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier. For local amenities, the municipality boasts a food cooperative with a full grocery store and gas station, as well as a community garden where the community can grow a variety of edible vegetables, fruits and flowers.
