Located in the southwestern part of the province on the banks of the Assiniboine River, Brandon is the second largest city in Manitoba with a population of over 50,000. Higher education is a major focus with several campuses in the city, including Brandon University and Assiniboine Community College. Points of interest here are limited, but a visit to the university campus is worthwhile for a leisurely stroll through its walkways, as well as the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba and the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum. Not to be missed in March is the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the country.
