Unfortunately, forest fires in the province of British Columbia are not uncommon and the Thompson-Okanagan region is on high alert. In 2018, British Columbia recorded its highest fire record in the province. In fact, more than 2,000 fires, affecting nearly 1.35 million hectares, occurred. Since then, it has become a priority to put in place strategic measures and raise awareness of the risks in order to encourage the earliest possible alert at the onset of a fire.
