LOCARNO BEACH PARK

A little further west of Jericho, Locarno Beach offers more tranquility than other beaches. The beach attendants, very British in their colonial helmets and red uniforms, scan the horizon without blinking, even on Sundays when families gather for picnics. It extends along the coast towards Spanish Banks. Parking is free, unlike other Vancouver beaches. You can swim, kayak or pedal boat, or even let off steam on the volleyball court. The view of Vancouver's buildings is breathtaking.
