The 836 m long Burrard Bridge was built over False Creek Bay between 1930 and 1932 in the Art-deco style. Its five lanes penetrate into the heart of the city. Designed by engineer John R. Grant and designed by architect George Sharp, the bridge crossing was designed to allow cars to drive while having the opportunity to view the bay. This results in a strong strobe visual effect. The bridge can also be used by bicycle or on foot along the secure platforms of its edges.
