DOMINION BUILDING
A striking hotel and retail building on the edge of Vancouver's Gastown neighborhood.
On the edge of the Gastown district, Vancouver's first high-rise remained the largest until 1911, and features Second Empire architecture. Its configuration is reminiscent of New York City's Flatiron Building. Today, the Dominion Building houses a hotel and a number of shops. Legend has it that the Dominion is haunted by the architect who designed it. He died in a fall while building the staircase. Could this be linked to the fact that the building has thirteen floors?
