Masset is the oldest town in the archipelago, on the northern tip of Graham Island, the largest of the islands. It was founded in 1909, east of a Haida community called Massett. Due to the presence of a former military base, Masset offers services such as fiber optic communication, which is surprising in such a location. Its economy is primarily based on commercial fishing and tourism, but Masset is also known for its goldsmiths and totem poles. Take a stroll along the huge beach at Tow Hill, on the north side of the island, and stroll along the waterfront to watch the spectacular sunset.
