Called "Charlotte" by the locals, the fishing village, between ocean and mountains, is perched along the shores of Bearskin Bay, 5 km west of the ferry terminal. The village came into being with the construction of a sawmill in 1908, supervised by the North American company Timber Holding. The operation of the sawmill and the mining opportunities in the area brought many settlers. One of the first buildings to be constructed was the hospital in 1909 to serve as a health care facility for the community. The town is also the starting point for many activities such as fishing, canoeing, walking on the beach, etc.
