This is the transitional region east of Highway 2, between the southern prairies and the northern boreal forests. It is one of the oldest towns in the province, retaining its small-town western charm, where foxes, coyotes, bobcats, beavers and coypu are sometimes seen. In Wetaskiwin, you can visit the world-renowned Reynolds-Alberta Museum, displaying cars, planes and industrial equipment from 1880 to the present. A detour through the hamlet of Ma-me-o brings you to the shores of Pigeon Lake, a popular second home for some Canadians.
