The park covers an area of 174,800 hectares. Here you'll find Aymara villages such as Caraguano, with its stone church and polychrome clay altar. The Conaf administration is located in Enquelga, at an altitude of 3,850 m, in the southern sector of the park. This village of some 90 houses is inhabited by a close-knit community that retains its own social organization. Reservations are required at the Conaf office in Arica.
