Castle with octagonal tower, vaulted rooms, park, terrace and radio museum with a collection of equipment
This powerful medieval fortress, one of the most beautiful in Calvados, stands on its vertiginous ramparts at the entrance to the village, on the Seulles side. Of very original construction, the castle dates back to the reign of Haimon-le-Dentu (11th century), the first Baron of Creully. Largely remodeled during the Renaissance and the 17th century, the castle is a real gem halfway between the manor and the fortress where the proud square keep perfectly highlights the rounded curves of the elegant Renaissance turret. Among the most remarkable elements of the building: a beautiful octagonal tower, two splendid vaulted rooms, a beautifully flowered park adorned with beautiful lawns, 17th century stables and a terrace offering a magnificent view over the Château de Creullet, a pleasure residence built in the 17th century. The square tower reached its peak in June and July 1944, when the BBC moved into its headquarters to broadcast its broadcasts. The Radio Museum is located there, which offers a beautiful collection of equipment and materials. Today the castle belongs to the commune of Creully, which rents it out for special occasions.
