The road that leads to this beautiful little village a few minutes from the border with Argentina is superb; we follow the course of the Futaleufú river, which means "big river" in mapundungun. The river is indeed legendary: Futaleufu is known worldwide for its rapids which will make the greatest happiness of the informed sportsmen (beginners abstain, class V by places). It has been officially recognized as one of the best rivers in the world for rafting and kayaking. Founded in 1920, this small village (2,500 inhabitants) is also a paradise for fly fishing. Finally, specialized in rural tourism, it still preserves its old-fashioned aura and its gaucho culture.
