Former residence of the Viceroys of India, this castle with garden houses the Institute of Advanced Studies and its library.
Completed in 1888, the former residence of the Viceroys of India is located on Observatory Hill. An imposing Scottish-style castle, it now houses the Institute of Advanced Studies and its extensive library. Inside, you can walk through the rooms where important decisions were made at the time of independence and see the table where the Partition map between India and Pakistan (West and East) was drawn. Take time to enjoy the beautiful gardens and take pictures (allowed outside).

bel édifice mais on ne visite qu'une partie du rez de chaussée dont le hall est magnifique (photos interdites à l'intérieur), le jardin est super entretenu et très fleuri : endroit chargé d'histoire à voir !

Guided tour in this historic place and we tell us the course of the great political meetings held there; beautiful old photos. The place, which magnificent wood panelling is well maintained, is worth a stop here. You can also take beautiful pictures from the outside.
