MOORISH MOSQUE
The country's only Moorish mosque, paved with white marble and decorated inside by artists from the Lahore School of Art
The country's only Moorish mosque, paved in white marble and with its dome decorated by artists from the Lahore School of Art, is the work of French architect Manteaux. Although Sikh, maharaja Jagatjit Singh ensured that the entire population felt integrated into his kingdom. Knowing that 60% of his subjects were Muslim, he commissioned the construction of this mosque. It is the only one in the country not to have a minaret, but a tower. Major renovation work, completed in 2017, has given it a proud appearance.
