KHIJADIYA BIRD SANCTUARY
A bird sanctuary with a unique ecosystem of around 220 species of birds and many other animals.
Located just 12 km from the city center, and therefore easily accessible by auto-rickshaw, this bird sanctuary comprises two marshes, one freshwater and the other saltwater, and is home to an ecosystem that is unique in India. There are around 220 species of birds, as well as numerous insects, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals and herbivores. It's best to get there early in the morning. The best time to visit the sanctuary is from October to February, when birds from Siberia and the mountains of Pakistan come in search of a little warmth.
