This great pilgrimage is held at the Ramdevra temple in the Jaisalmer district. It is dedicated to Baba Ramdev, a local saint who lived in the 15th century and is considered a reincarnation of Krishna. He is revered for his supernatural powers and for achieving samadhi, the conscious detachment from the body. At the end of August, tens of thousands of pilgrims flock to the temple and chant bhajans and devotional songs all night.
