A superb abbey, one of the most important buildings of the ducal era in Normandy, founded in 1063 by William the Conqueror, then Duke of Normandy. Comprising two parts (the conventual buildings and the church of Saint-Étienne), the Abbey aux Hommes is an architectural masterpiece of medieval art. The Hôtel de Ville de Caen now occupies the monastic complex, rebuilt in the 18th century around a Tuscan-style cloister. Consecrated in 1077, the Gothic-style abbey church houses the tomb of William the Conqueror.

L'abbaye aux hommes abrite l'hôtel de ville de Caen. C'est un très beau monument qui se visite librement ou en visite guidée. Le tarif n'est pas très élevé et la visite vaut le coup.

Heureux sont les caennais qui s'y marient. la visite est gratuite certains dimanche. Riche d'architecture et d'histoire. Si vous voulez y vois Charlton Heston enfin sa poupée de cire, c'est la ba :)
