Church built in the century, in Romanesque style, replacing a sanctuary dedicated to the archangel Saint Michael.
Perched on its hillock, the church dominates the city of Caen. Built in the 12th century in Romanesque style to replace a sanctuary dedicated to the archangel St. Michael, it was then remodelled in the 16th century. Connected to Mont-Saint-Michel, it was the starting point of the thousand-year-old route taken by the "miquelots", the pilgrims who flocked from all over Europe to go to the Mont. Observe the bronze nail on one of the steps of the square; it is the famous starting point.
