The track leading to Bourrha from Rhumsiki is only good for about 20 minutes. After that, its condition deteriorates considerably. By car, it becomes almost impassable, even in the dry season. Better to venture out in a 4x4, but don't expect to exceed 40 km/h. This gives you plenty of time to admire the landscape, which, half an hour's drive from Rhumsiki, features an astonishing cluster of granite boulders in a lush green setting.A stopover is also possible in Gili, some 40 minutes from Rhumsiki. This important village hosts a large vegetable and cereal market every Saturday. Bourrha is a small town on the Nigerian border, where permanent buildings are gradually replacing the traditional mud-brick houses. Some 80 km south of Mokolo and 135 km north of Garoua, it is a small administrative center on a par with Koza or Mora. There's a school, a hospital, a gendarmerie... Bourrha's main roads are lined with stones that have been painted white, just like the base of the acacias. A busy market is held several times a week in the central square, in the middle of which stands a milestone also painted white. In Bourrha, you'll be amazed by the large number of trees planted along the streets, but also in the gardens of the houses. We've left the Sahel behind for good, and nature is gradually reclaiming its rights.
