Španski Trg
Square dominated by the emblematic neo-Moorish building of Mostar High School. It marks the entrance to Mostar-West.
This square (Španski Trg/Španjolski Trg) is the entrance to western Mostar and was at the heart of the 1993-1994 fighting. It lies in front of a traffic circle, at the intersection of the Bulevar (main north-south axis), the Korzo (pedestrian walkway), Mostarskog-Bataljona street (coming from Mostar-Est) and 800 m north of the Franciscan monastery. Dominated by the emblematic neo-Moorish Mostar High School building, the square was originally unnamed. It was named in 1995 in honor of the Spanish peacekeepers who were deployed in the city from 1993 onwards.
