PORT DE BATOUMI

Boat and ferry

The port of Batumi serves Sochi in Russia (where the 2014 Winter Olympics were held), Ilitcheyevsk in Ukraine, Trabzon in Turkey and Burgas in Bulgaria. The terminal is just past Portis Chesakhevi on Goguebashvili (where all the flags are displayed). A stroll along the quays is quite pleasant, as is the observation of the different boats.

On the cargo port side, a project was launched in 2019 to enlarge the port and allow it to store up to 60,000 tons of mineral fertilizers transiting between Asia and Europe.

GARE ROUTIÈRE

Bus station

The bus station of Batumi is located on a square south of the port, just before the entrance to the centre when arriving from Makhindjauri or Tbilisi. The Tbilisi-Batumi marchroutkas, from the station of Didoubé, are very frequent. This is the fastest mode of travel (5 hours, 15 lari). Batumi is very well connected by bus and marchroutkas to Kutaisi, Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurguéti. There is one departure per day to Akhaltsikhe via the Adjar mountains. In summer, it is a good idea to discover the landscapes of the hinterland, grandiose.

GARE FERROVIAIRE DE MAKHINDJAOURI / BATOUMI

Railway station

Two modern day trains and one night train in both directions to Tbilisi-Batumi. On the outward journey, a night train with couchette (from 20 lari) can be a very good solution to pay one night less in Batumi. They stop at the terminal station of Makhindjaouri, 5 km from Batumi centre. Coastal markets and buses constantly connect the town to Batoumi (5 to 10 min). In summer, buy your ticket at least two days in advance.

FUNICULAIRE

Funiculars and cable cars

The funicular of Batoumi gives the tourist the possibility to take in the field, to grasp the beauty of the site of Batoumi and the whole of coastal Adjaria. During a long journey that first flies over the city, then the orange groves, mandarin trees and tea plantations that populate the steep and lush hills that dominate Batoumi, this Turkish construction offers an unbelievable panorama of the sea, the city, the mountains. On arrival, an observation platform on which Georgians love to be photographed. What about you?

AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE BATOUMI

Airline and services

It was inaugurated as an international airport in 2007. It is an option to consider, it can be convenient with planes via Istanbul. It is served by : Georgian Airways (Kiev), Tbilaviamsheni (Sochi in Russia), Turkish Airlines and Pegasus (Istanbul Atatürk). To reach the city centre (about 6 km), take bus number 10 which is located in front of the terminal. The journey takes 20 minutes and the ticket costs 0.30 GEL. There are also taxis but the bus is very reliable.
