Inaugurated in spring 2010, this curious glass and metal gateway, built by an Italian architect, is President Saakashvili's personal project, emblematic of his aesthetic taste. It has created a serious contrast to the old town, and its presence here has been the subject of intense controversy. Only a pedestrian, it must serve what will come on the esplanade of Riké - a shopping Centre. Its form, which must remember that of a bird or fish, is worth its popular nickname, which refers naturally to sanitary napkins…

Comme toutes les constructions modernes, il y a débat sur ce pont... en vérité il fait belle impression, surtout à la tombée ou au lever du jour lorsqu'il est illuminé, et vide !

Très franchement, je trouve ce pont très réussi architecturalement parlant. Ca apporte une touche de modernité à Tbilissi. D'autant plus que c'est peut-être ce dont on se souvient le plus quand on pense à Tbilissi.

Il n'y a que les guides touristiques qui surnomment ce pont "Always Ultra". C'est ce que nous a dit un guide local.
Cependant, il faut aller voir ce pont, tellement surprenant quand on sort de la vieille ville.
