CHURCH OF DJVARIS MAMA

The Jvarismama Church, "Father of the Cross", adjacent to the Norachen Church, has a certain historical dimension: it was once home to monks returning from Jerusalem. It takes its name from it: in Jerusalem, a Georgian church is called Holy Cross. In Georgian, mama means father. Originally built in the ^5th century, its remains date back to the 16th century, it was last restored in 1825. Observe the frescoes, showing several historical scenes. The pool outside is dedicated to baptisms.
