Around 20 km from Rustaq, Al Hazm lies along lane 11, a road that runs perpendicular to the coastal road and allows you to make a Muscat-Masqate loop through the interior of the Batinah (Nakhal, Al Awabi, Rustaq and then Al Hazm), returning via the coast. This village is worth a visit for its impressive fort, one of the most famous in the country - it is on UNESCO's tentative list for World Heritage listing. It was built by Imam Sultan Bin Saif II (who is buried here) in the early 18th century. Here you'll discover the imam's domestic and living quarters, including a majlis and a Koranic school.
