Military Museum in the keep of the fortress and Museu do Abade de Bacal, installed in the former episcopal palace in Bragaça.
Military Museum ✆ +351 273 322 378. Open 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm, 6pm in July and 6:30pm in August. Closed on Mondays and public holidays. Admission €1.50. Free admission on Sunday mornings. In the fortress dungeon, the Military Museum fills several small rooms on three levels. Childhood fans of cloak-and-dagger novels will appreciate the collections of swords and armor from the 16th to the 19th centuries. A steep staircase takes you to the very top of the château. A magnificent view!

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 6pm. Admission €3. Free on Sunday mornings. Housed in the former episcopal palace, the former Bragança regional museum, it includes a variety of collections: archaeology, sacred art, furniture, ethnography, 16th and 18th century painting, contemporary art, sculpture and numismatics. The museum has some 15 rooms, including a very long room on the first floor overlooking an interior garden.

This small museum, located at the entrance to the citadel, features exhibitions of masks and costumes from Celtic times and folk festivals. Some of the costumes are truly incredible.
