This cableway has been in operation since March 11, 1995. The cabins pass over the forest to link the town center with Mount Penha, 617 m above sea level. The journey takes 10 minutes, during which time you can admire one of the region's most beautiful landscapes and religious monuments. Mount Penha is home to the Nossa Senhora do Carmo sanctuary. There's also a leisure park, caves, mountain bike and hiking trails, a mini-golf course, a campsite and a petiscos restaurant.

Return ticket €7.50 (€4 one-way). Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., 5:15 p.m. in autumn/winter only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Bicycles can board at the rear.

The Guimarães Cable Car connects the city of Guimarães to Penha Mountain. It is a blend of historical heritage and the tranquillity of nature. Opened to the public on March 11, 1995, it was the first suspended means of transport to operate in Portugal.
With a line length of around 1600 meters and a drop of 632 meters, it has 40 cabins, 8 of which are adapted for transporting bicycles. The journey takes 10 minutes, with magnificent views of the city of Guimarães and access to the natural heritage of Penha Mountain, where the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Carmo is located, leisure parks, unmissable caves, a campsite, mini-golf, mountain biking circuits and a tavern where you can enjoy the best traditional snacks.
