The castle of Mourão allows to appreciate the view of Monsaraz and the lake.

Mourão Castle is not as well preserved as Monsaraz Castle, just across the lake. But it has a charm that the other doesn't: inside the fortress, nature has reclaimed its rights, and all you'll find is wild grass, trees and stairs that aren't always passable for climbing up the parapet walk and enjoying the view over Monsaraz and the lake. You'll soon feel like an explorer in the midst of these medieval remains. The church within the walls is less interesting, but worth a visit nonetheless.
