The city has created an archaeological museum that highlights the important role of the city in ancient times.

Although the castle is now occupied by the Pousada Castelo de Alcácer, the site and its surroundings are still of great interest. Next to the ancient Roman Forum, the town has created an archaeological museum highlighting the town's important role in antiquity. A little further down are the ruins of the convent and the Romanesque-Gothic church of Santa Maria do Castelo. Part of the adobe walls that once encircled the village are still standing.
