The Grote Markt is a lively and busy place, and also the center of entertainment with cafés and restaurants
The Grote Markt is the main square of Breda. It is a place of animation and passage. The square gives a sublime view of the Grote Kerk. The city hall (stadhuis) is located here and dates back to the 17th century, although its current façade dates from 1768. In the building is a copy of The Surrender of Breda by Velázquez. In the church is the tomb of Engelbert II of Nassau. This square is the setting for summer festivals, especially jazz. It is also the center of the outings with cafés and restaurants. During carnival, it is naturally the party!
