'T BASIN

It is a lovely marina about ten minutes walk from the Markt square. This harbor was built in 1825 under the orders of King William I to stimulate trade, shipping and industry. The district was placed under the sign of the prosperity of certain industries in particular porcelain (Sphinx) and paper (Sappi). The basin was renovated in the 1990's and now hosts quality restaurants in the cellars. The basin gives access to the Meuse by a lock. The only drawback is that most of the terraces are in the shade.
