It is a remnant of the first city walls of the 13th century. It is the oldest gate in the Netherlands and served as a defensive structure until the beginning of the 16th century, when the new city walls (Walmuur) were built. The visit is very instructive and allows the visitors to go back in history, walls, casemates, defense lines everything is explained in detail. An interesting visit, also to be done with the family. This magnificent and photogenic tower was renovated in 1906. Very pleasant setting for a walk in the green.
