Medieval Romanesque basilica with crypts with elaborate sculptures and a bell on the south tower in Maastricht

This medieval and Romanesque gem features a transept and central core dating from around 1000 AD. This historic monument boasts 11th- and 12th-century crypts, housing the tombs of St. Servais, the first bishop of the Netherlands, and Charles of Lorraine. The building was extended in the 14th and 15th centuries, enriching its already impressive architecture. Highlights include portals adorned with finely crafted sculptures. The bell in the south tower, nicknamed Grameer, weighs almost 7 tons.

A voir absolument si vous visitez Maastricht. Une grande histoire, des objets étonnants et un beau lieu de culte. Saint Servatius est le saint protecteur de la ville. A recommander vivement.

Un endroit merveilleux, où l'on se sent en sécurité, où l'on peut voir de nombreux monuments anciens et où les chants de Noël sont sensationnels. On sent que le Seigneur est avec nous, avec l'Esprit Saint, on sent l'amour que nous avons et que Dieu nous tient dans ses mains protectrices. On comprend la crucifixion de Jésus et on ne veut pas s'éloigner. Il y a beaucoup de chaleur dans la basilique et on se sent accueilli à bras ouverts.

Très belle basilique, qui vaut vraiment la peine d'être visitée. L'entrée ne coûte que 6 euros. L'accès à la tour est limité pendant la saison froide.
