LOVE" FOUNTAIN

This beautiful fountain sculpture entitled Love is the work of Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. It was designed and installed as part of Leeuwarden 2018, when the city of Friesland was the European cultural capital. It represents a boy and a girl facing each other but with their eyes closed. Located near the train station, it marks the visitor as soon as he arrives in Leeuwarden. The two figures are 7 meters high. The expression on their faces seems peaceful. Plensa says that "they are dreaming"; for the children, the future is full of promise.
