A superb museum of exception renowned for its impressive collection of works by Vincent van Gogh.
A superb visit awaits you! The setting is magnificent, but it's the museum in particular that impresses with its exceptional collection of works by Van Gogh. Opened in 1938, the museum was built to plans by architect Henry van de Velde and bears the name of its founder, Helene Kröller-Müller. The sculpture garden was added in 1961, and the new wing, designed by Wim Quist, was inaugurated in 1977.
The collection focuses on the works of Van Gogh, with 90 paintings and over 160 drawings. The museum also features works from the De Stijl movement, including Charley Toorop's disturbing self-portraits and paintings by Piet Mondrian. Works by Braque, Léger and Seurat are also on display. Van Gogh's works are arranged around a patio, which it is advisable to walk around from right to left to chronologically follow the artist's development, in particular his progressive use of color. This collection is undoubtedly the highlight of the museum, itself a major attraction in the park. Impressionism is also in the spotlight, with works by Cézanne, Renoir and Monet. Several rooms are dedicated to the Golden Age of Dutch painting. The museum also houses an important collection of Greek ceramics and Chinese porcelain, as well as a rich section of contemporary art, including works by Giacometti, Beuys and many others.

The museum is not only a treasure trove of the De Stijl movement and futurism, but also surprises with presentations by contemporary artists.
In the large sculpture garden you can walk between sculptures by Aristide Maillol, Jean Dubuffet, Marta Pan and many others. Architecture lovers can admire the museum buildings by Henry van de Velde and Wim Quist, the pavilions by Rietveld and Van Eyck in the sculpture garden, and the Jachthuis Sint Hubertus in the park.
Its location in the heart of the Veluwe and its unique combination of art and nature make the Kröller-Müller a place of pleasure and relaxation. A perfect day out for young and old!
HOGE VELUWE NATIONAL PARK
A visit to the Kröller-Müller Museum is a real experience. A discovery that starts at the entrance of the Hoge Veluwe National Park. We recommend that you take advantage of your visit to the museum to visit the hunting lodge Jachthuis Sint Hubertus and the Information Center with the underground museum Museonder, have a picnic or go for a walk or bike ride.
THE PARK AND ITS WHITE BICYCLES
With 5,500 hectares of woodland, heathland, grassy plains and windblown sand, the park is home to deer, mouflon and wild boar, among others. On foot or on one of the free white bicycles, explore the nature and end up at the museum, the most beautiful treasure of the Netherlands. The free white bicycles (1,800 in total) are available at the three entrances to the park, the information center and the museum.
