A village near Rotterdam, with 19 windmills that testify to the hydraulic engineering of the 18th century
The site of Kinderdijk is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is actually a village near Rotterdam, in an area that is at great risk of flooding. A historic drainage system has been set up and now includes 19 windmills that bear witness to the hydraulic engineering of the 18th century. It is one of the most iconic and touristy places in the Netherlands. It can be visited all year round and gives access to two windmills on the site. It is possible to access the site by bike, a perfect excursion from Rotterdam.
