The museum is housed in a private residence designed by the architects G.-W. Baas and L. Stokla in 1938 in the Nieuwe Bouwen period. Baas and L. Since 1993 it has housed the interesting private collection of works by the painter and sculptor Henk Chabot, who died prematurely in 1949 at the age of 55. Chabot was an important representative of Dutch Expressionism between the two world wars, together with Charley Toorop.
