The largest covered market in the world whose originality lies in its huge ceiling, covered with a luminous fresco

The Markthal is the largest covered market in the world. In the middle of this 40 meter high and 120 meter long tunnel, there are no less than 100 fresh food stands, 8 cafés and restaurants and more than 200 futuristic apartments. The whole is protected from the wind by a glass façade. The originality of this market lies in its immense ceiling (11,000 m²) which is covered with an incredibly luminous fresco elaborated by the couple Arno Coenen-Iris Roskam entitled Horn of plenty. Markhal is the work of MVRDV.

Le marché couvert est un endroit incroyable! Le bâtiment de l'extérieur peut paraître annodin mais dès que l'on s'approche, la verrière est magnifique. Vous pouvez vous balader et même manger à l'intérieur c'est très convivial !

Un endroit à ne pas rater à Rotterdam.
Pour déjeuner, pour goûter ou simplement se balader, il faut passer par le Markthal.
Cette immense halle, est génial tant sur le plan architectural que pour la diversité des stands qu'elle offre !

Lieu vraiment hors du commun. Cela ressemble à une grande arche et le plafond est impressionnant . Les stands sont vraiment variés et nombreux mais du coup il s'agit de gastronomie de spécialités autre que celles des pays bas. Manger la bas peut être plaisant mais il faut choisir son restaurant car on peut vite se faire entraîner dans un lieu cher et non authentique.
